West Palm Beach, Florida is set to enhance its downtown area with the installation of up to 20 interactive kiosks, according to a report from The Palm Beach Post. The devices, which will provide information on everything from dining to events, will be managed by Columbus, Ohio-based IKE Smart City.
The kiosks will generate advertising revenue for the city, with an estimated annual income of $391,140 over a potential 15-year contract. The devices will also include emergency call buttons and optional cameras for public safety.
"Having a digital wayfinding map in a downtown will not only be great for navigation purposes, but you'll be able to get step-by-step instructions," West Palm Beach Assistant City Administrator Armando Fana told the news outlet.
The city has yet to determine the kiosk locations or installation timeline.
