Walmart Asda launches wine selector kiosk
June 27, 2010
Walmart-owned grocery chain Asda in the United Kingdom has deployed in-store kiosks to help customers choose wine. The Wine Selector is currently being trialed in Chapeltown, Sheffield in South Yorkshire, and Harrogate in North Yorkshire, with plans for a larger distribution in the fall, according tosupermarket.co.za.
The touchscreen kiosk allows customers to search several criteria including, price, grape type and country origin. Once the customer has entered the preferences the Wine Selector prints a docket with the suggested wine. Each terminal is tailored to its store, where prices and promotions are updated on a daily basis and include Asda's full range of more than 600 wines.
