Virgin kiosk project earns ePOINT kudos

March 11, 2002

GLASGOW, Scotland - A collaborative effort with the Virgin music store chain hit the right note for kiosk manufacturer ePOINT Ltd. on Sept. 26, as the company was honored for the top product launch of 2001 during the National Business Awards of Scotland presentation.

Based in Alloa, Scotland, ePOINT was honored for developing an interactive kiosk for Virgin to use in its V Shop music retail outlets. The company planned to install about 500 kiosks at 101 V Shops throughout the UK.

Virgin's V Shops offer an in-store lineup of CDs, DVDs, games and digital hardware. The ePOINT kiosk expands the customer's choices, with more than 100,000 CDs and DVDs available through the kiosk, along with access to Virgin's on-line business, including its wine store and travel services.

"The National Business Awards recognize the wealth of product development in Scotland and we are delighted to have received this accolade," Gordon Venters, ePOINT chief executive officer, said in a news release.

The award is the second for ePOINT's Virgin project. In June, the system was honored as the Most Innovative Use of In-Store Technology during the European Retail Solutions Awards.
