A pair of Provo, Utah entrepreneurs, Weston Hafen and Jon Lund, have developed a self-order kiosk app for restaurants that has already gained some local customers, according to the Daily Herald. Hafen and Lund work with the point-of-sale system, Square, which has over 3 million customers, to develop their Flash Order kiosk app.
The app is free to download, and restaurant owners can upload individualized menus with photos and descriptions. Restaurant owners can provide a tablet for customers to use.
One restaurant, The Breakroom Bistro, began using Flash Order a month ago. While they offered a traditional register to give customers a choice, customers preferred the kiosk. The restaurant has since replaced the cash register with a second kiosk.
