Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: US Airways said Thursday it will hire more than 1,000 people, upgrade about 600 check-in kiosks and make other customer-service improvements to ensure passengers' winter of discontent doesn't spill into summer doldrums. The moves, announced along with respectable quarterly earnings, follow winter storms and a reservation-system meltdown that stranded thousands of passengers along the East Coast, especially in Philadelphia and Charlotte, N.C.
