The University of North Dakota recently increased its fleet of interactive kioskprinting stations. UND now has a total of 13 Document Kiosks placed strategically across campus in high-traffic areas, according to a news release from Advanced Kiosks, manufacturer of the units.
Students upload print jobs from their personal computers to UND's uPrint Web Print System. They can then go to any kiosk, swipe their student ID card and collect the document. The kiosks are fitted with credit card readers and phone handsets hardwired to IT support.
Now into its second year of kiosk use, uPrint has gone from 1.2 million pages printed annually to almost 2.3 million, the release said.
"We've made the decision to give the students services versus hardware. Instead of building more computer labs, we need to meet them where they are," said UND's Center for Instructional & Learning Technologies Associate Director Joshua Jones.
