UChart, the electronic medical record system in place across UHealth, is piloting the use of UChart Kiosks in four locations next week to allow patients to register and check in for their appointments.
The touchscreen, multilingual kiosks also allow patients to print an itinerary and map for any appointments made in the UChart system and print appointment reminders. Patients also will be able to update demographic and insurance information before receiving care.
Staff members will be available to guide first-time users through the new process.
Based on feedback from the pilot, UChart leaders will determine how the kiosks will be used.
Eventually, the kiosks will allow patients to make payments, including co-pays using a credit card, answer a health history questionnaire and scan driver's licenses and insurance cards.
