The Toronto Public Library is planning to roll out a book vending kiosk at Union Station in the city. The intention of the product is to make the library more accessible to Toronto residents, according to a report by The Star.

"You aren’t expecting a library presence in Union Station, so it will be a convenient way for commuters to access library content," said Ana-Maria Critchley, the library's manager of stakeholder relations.

The library is still choosing a vendor for this project, so not all of the kiosk's functions have been planned out. However, the library's initial plans was to stock the kiosk with popular books and DVDs.

According to the article, there are currently four other locations with library vending kiosks in North America: Contra Costa County, California; Ottawa, Canada; Vaughan, Canada; and Fullerton, California. The total cost of the Union Station kiosk will be $200,000, to be paid by the city of Toronto.
