MEXICO CITY- Todito.com S.A. de C.V., an Internet portal and marketplace for Spanish-speaking North Americans, and Grupo Elektra S.A. de C.V. (NYSE:
EKT; BMV: ELEKTRA), a specialty retailer and consumer finance company in Latin America, announced the expansion of Todito Internet kiosks to 150 Elektra stores in Mexico. The kiosk deployment is part of the five-year agreement signed between the two companies in May 2000, which also covers on-line promotion and e-Commerce support.
The Todito kiosks sell low-cost computers packaged with Todito's Internet connection service and computer classes in Mexico's largest chain of computer schools. Qualified customers can buy the computer and Internet packages through Elektra's credit program.
Elektra's COO Javier Sarro said Todito and Elektra will play key roles in the growth of Internet use in Mexico. The kiosks bring more visitors to the stores and educate customers about the Internet, Sarro said.
