Software developers Ebix Inc. recently announced it has deployed its telemedicine kiosks Ask a Doctor throughout the state of Rajasthan, India. This deployment was part of an initiative called eMitra designed by the Rajasthan government to offer government services to citizens, according to a press release.

As part of an agreement between the government and Ebix, any resident of Rajasthan can ask a doctor for advice via kiosks. The resident can write a health query, attach a picture or upload a lab report and ask doctors for advice. They will receive a response either by email or on their phones. Currently, the company has deployed 33,000 kiosks across the 33 districts of the state.

"We are excited to be partnering with the government of Rajasthan to provide expert medical advice to the citizens of the state in every remote corner of this large state, that has an area of approximately 342,000 kilometers and a population of approximately 73.5 million," said Robin Raina, president and CEO, Ebix in the release.
