MINNEAPOLIS -- Target Corp. has launched its customer reward program that features Visa "smart coupons" that can be redeemed at in-store kiosks.
Target Visa cardholders log on to target.com/visa to get their Visa smart coupons. The electronic coupons can be loaded on to the smart card at in-store kiosks or through the reader when visiting Target's Web site, according to a report on CardLine.
Cardholders have begun receiving Smart Card Reader Software 2.0 on CD that updates the software that Target distributed to consumers when they first received the chip card. The Smart Coupons will be automatically redeemed when the cardholder purchases qualifying merchandise and pays for it with the Target Visa card.
The rewards program has been in the works since Target introduced the chip card in September 2001. See related story, "Target to roll out loyalty program in Q3."
