A pair of entrepreneurs have developed a 3D scanning kiosk called Beheld that takes pictures of a person's body and creates a 3D model they can share with friends for free, according to TechCrunch.
The scanner takes multiple pictures of the user's body from different angles, then stitches them together. It costs $40 to print the model.
Partners Kat Kinkead and Peter Weijmarshausen plan to roll out 3D scanning kiosks in the U.S. and Europe. They have created special effects that make the user appear and disappear in fireworks and clouds of smoke to appeal to Snapchat users.
The partners, based in New York City, plan to have 3D scanning kiosks in malls and other high-trafficked places.
The Beheld website refers to the kiosk as the "Photo Booth of the Future."
