Staples executive earns honor through kiosks

February 21, 2002

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The deployment of in-store retail kiosks helped land Staples Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS) chief technology officer Michael Ragunas on the 2002 Premier 100 list of information technology leaders compiled by information services company Computerworld.

During 2001, Ragunas oversaw the allocation of Access Point kiosks at nearly 1,000 Staples stores throughout the United States. The kiosks allowed the office supplies retailer to link its Staples.com retail Web site to its stores.

"Mike Ragunas has been instrumental in leveraging e-commerce technology to improve our customers' experience whether they shop Staples stores, catalog, or online," Staples executive vice president John Mahoney said in a news release.

Brian Light, Staples chief information officer, was named to Computerworld's Premier 100 list in 2001.
