COLD SPRING, N.Y. - Sports fanatics will soon be able to fuel up on the latest scores while fueling up their cars. Sports news and information service SportsTicker has signed a content agreement with PointMedia Corp., which is rolling out a line of entertainment and e-commerce kiosks at gas pumps.
Under the agreement, scores for completed major league sports events and some in-progress scores will be made available to PointMedia's PointTV service. SportsTicker provides scores and information for ESPN.com, Yahoo!, and CNNSI.
Gas station customers can access news and information through the interactive video kiosks. The kiosks will also feature information on purchasing products at the pump. PointMedia will install and maintain the service at no charge to station owners, who receive a percentage of revenue generated by each system. The company will unveil PointTV at the NACS Show Oct. 20-23 in Las Vegas.
