Spokane to add 2 more library kiosks

December 20, 2018

The Spokane, Washington, library district plans to introduce two more library kiosks, following passage of a library bond in November, according to msn.com.

Currently, the West Central Community Center has the only 24/7 library kiosk in Washington, and one of only about a dozen nationwide. The library received funding for the kiosk through the Community Development Block Grant program.

Rae-Lynn Barden, the library's administrative services coordinator, said the kiosk was needed to serve West Central Spokane, where the library does not operate a branch. Many residents in the area were unable to get to other branches.

The kiosk holds 340 items, including popular titles, children's books and DVDs. The kiosk is ADA accessible and has a web browser that provides access the library website.
