On the South Korean island Jeju a self-service café relies on the honor system, according to Want China Times.
SunSet & Hill Café is an unmanned restaurant where tourists and other visitors cook their own meals – and are expected to pay for them. And much like the dishwasher in the backs of many restaurants, these visitors are obligated to wash any dishes they use.
Menus posted display prices for drinks and snacks. Beverages are typically priced at 2,000-2,500 won (US$1.90-$2.40).
The café recently added a Chinese language sign, the article said. The sign stressed the importance of respecting the "rules of compassion."
The self-service cafes are one of the exclusive attractions on the island. Written thank you cards from customers around the world expressing their gratitude for the unique service cover the walls of the café, the article said.
