South Carolina elementary schools install book vending machines

Elementary schools in Laurens, South Carolina now offer students books in exchange for tokens they earn for good work and good behavior, according to a wspa.com report.

Superintendent Dr. Ameca Thomas said the district believes the machines are motivating the kids to read which is a good thing as teachers have noticed a decline in literacy that the pandemic has exacerbated.
