Sony in, Kodak out at Kinko's

March 3, 2003

LAS VEGAS - After a four-store test in Dallas-area stores, Kinko's announced that it will install SonyPictureStation photo kiosks at 800 of its 1,100 U.S. stores, according to a joint release from the two companies.

The announcement, made during the Photo Marketing Association trade show in Las Vegas, said the new equipment would be installed by year's end. The PMA Web site, attributing Kinko's, said the units would replace Kodak PictureMaker kiosks currently installed at Kinko's stores.

Sony introduced the PictureStation kiosks last year, and has installed them in drug stores, grocery chains, college bookstores, hotels and specialty retailers.

Sue Parks, executive vice president for the Dallas-based provider of business services, said in the release the Sony equipment is "clearly the best retail-based digital photo finishing solution."
