SMO's new Web site won't distract shoppers

March 17, 2002

EVERSON, Wash. - SMO Multi-Media Corp. is planning to install Web-based kiosks in malls soon. In order to keep shoppers focused on shopping, the company has taken its corporate information to a new Web site, www.smomedia.com.

According to a company news release, the new Web site is the first of a flurry of new sites. The corporate Web site describes SMO's divisions and opportunities for businesses, investors and the media.

SMO Multi-Media, formerly known as Shopping Mall Online, split the new Web site off from www.shoppingmallonline.com, which is being redesigned as the main shopping service for SMO's e-Station kiosks, the release stated.

The e-Stations will offer directories, product coupons, mall loyalty programs and shopping at partner Web sites. The kiosks give retailers the ability to track the activity of kiosk users.

In addition to building new Web content, SMO is planning a merger with Skytalk Communications Inc. (OTC Pink Sheets: SKLK) of Vancouver, British Columbia. Skytalk publishes Canadian airport magazines and directories. The merger, originally scheduled to be completed in July, is still pending.

In April SMO Multi-Media and kiosk systems designer Cybertotems agreed to fund a joint venture in which both companies owned equal shares of the company. Cooper City, Fla.-based Cybertotems contributed $1 million to the venture, as well as its hardware and deployment expertise. Cybertotems is owned by Porto, Portugal-based Immediata SGPS.
