Singapore companies develop digital-imaging kiosk

December 16, 2003

SINGAPORE -- Fuji Singapore has collaborated with Pictureworks, a wholly owned Singapore company, to develop a digital-imaging self-service kiosk.

Named Cheki!, this coin-operated self-service kiosk allows users to make instant photo-quality prints from digital pictures stored in either a mobile phone, xD-Picture Card, SD card, SmartMedia, MemoryStick or compact flash.

A "live" camera is integrated in the kiosk for a quick and fun snap. The photo prints cost $2 per print of two pictures.

The vendors have also collaborated on the local development of the Digital Print Center (DPC), a self-service kiosk that lets customers place their own digital-media and digital-camera print orders, providing them with convenient payment options at the counter. The DPC was fully developed in Singapore to meet local requirements, such as provisions for local payment methods and other functions.

Key features of the Cheki! include:

  • A touchscreen panel for easy use.
  • Full self-service functions with convenient coin operation.
  • Instant prints within 60 seconds per print from the different media types.
  • Ability for users to select templates and customize individual templates. Administrators can update the templates regularly and easily.
  • A multimedia experience with recorded voice instructions and music to enhance the "fun" experience while waiting for the prints.
