The Boston Herald: Shaw's Supermarkets Inc. is planning a rollout of the next generation of self-checkout: technology that allows customers to scan and bag groceries as they shop. Shaw's also will install "avenu" kiosks that give customized offers and product savings to customers who swipe their rewards cards. The incentives, which will automatically appear on customers' receipts at checkout, are in addition to the savings offered to all rewards-card users at the registers.
