All gas stations belonging to Emirates National Oil Company and its subsidiary, Emirates Petroleum Products Company, in Dubai are offering self-service fuelling facilities from midnight to 6 a.m., the companies have announced.
ENOC's parent company, the Investment Corp. of Dubai, is wholly owned by the Government of Dubai.
ENOC and EPPCO say they offer secure self-service fuel dispenser payment systems at the forecourt at the 88 service stations in their network for more convenient use by motorists.
"We have achieved a milestone in implementing fuel self-service during late operational hours across our entire ENOC/EPPCO network in Dubai," an ENOC spokesperson said in a statement. "Our goal is to extend the facility to regular operational hours."
ENOC has also introduced ViP, for Vehicle Identification Pass, an RFID-based fuel retailing system for fleet fuel purchases. The automated system allows registered commercial users and fleet owners to purchase fuel without using cash or credit cards.
ViP automatically recognizes the registered vehicle being fuelled and deducts the cost from the registered user's account.
ENOC and EPPCO said the introduction of self-service has not led to staff redundancies, and affected staff members are being deployed in other service stations within the network.
In August 2013, ENOC and EPPCO introduced EMV chip-and-PIN card payments at their gas stations, Gulf News reported.
