Self-checkout solution introduced in c-store chain
September 25, 2008
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Crossroads Market in Bowling Green, Ky., has installed and is operating retail checkout product manufacturer Pan-Oston's Utopia self-checkout solution to speed up customer service and increase store profits. "Utopia can be retrofitted into existing counters or be placed on top of existing counters," said Jim Vance, president of Pan-Oston. "It is the next stage in the evolution of c-store self-service started over a decade ago by pay-at-the pump gas service."
According to a news release, Utopia, the only Plug-and-Go, PCI-compatible self-checkout solution flexible and robust enough for any size c-store, is the only self-service checkout solution that is simple to install, manage and update. The system integrates with pre-pay-at-the pump, works with or without POS systems, is scalable, and can be up and running in hours.
"We have been amazed at the positive customer reaction to our self-checkout, and labor costs have improved too," said Jenny Sheffield, Crossroads Market employee.
