Sanibel Island residents gain prescription pickup kiosk

Island Wellness Pharmacy in Fort Myers, Florida, slated to open later this year, has launched a prescription pickup kiosk inside Jerry's Foods on Sanibel Island, according to a South Florida Hospital News report. The kiosk, operated in partnership with Cypress Wellness Pharmacy of Fort Myers, offers 22 temperature-controlled lockers for secure medication retrieval. Patients can have prescriptions sent to Cypress Wellness Pharmacy and, for a $3 fee during the construction phase of Island Wellness Pharmacy, have them delivered to the kiosk twice weekly. Once the Sanibel location opens, kiosk pickup will be free.

"We are excited to partner with Jerry's Foods and offer this innovative solution to our Sanibel community," Justin Ceravolo, owner and pharmacist of Cypress Wellness Pharmacy and Island Wellness Pharmacy, told the news outlet. "Our goal is to make it as easy as possible to access essential medications for patients and their pets, particularly during the construction of our new Sanibel location. Once we open, the kiosk will remain a complimentary service for our island patients."

The self-service kiosk is accessible during Jerry's Foods' operating hours (7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily) and provides a convenient after-hours option. Users receive a secure pickup code via text or email. The kiosk is a temporary solution until the full-service Island Wellness Pharmacy opens in Jerry's Shopping Center, where it will continue to operate as a complimentary service. The pharmacy will offer a range of services, including prescription refills, immunizations, consultations and custom medication services.
