Rural post offices in UK to offer information kiosks

October 19, 2004

VNU business publications: BT Group, a communications solutions provider in the United Kingdom, is installing information kiosks in 50 sub-post offices in Leicestershire, England, as part of a pilot scheme to offer Internet access to more people.

Called Community Point, the kiosk scheme aims to capitalize on the Post Office's traditional position of being at the heart of local communities, BT and the Post Office said.

The Leicestershire pilot, whose primary sponsor is National Savings and Investments, runs for six months and will be rolled out across the country, if successful.
