Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has launched the MediNav Navigator Edition 2.0, an app that provides turn-by-turn navigation for visitors, according to a press release.

The app, designed by Connexient, uses Bluetooth low energy beacons to provide its navigation tools. It is designed to be accurate up to one or two meters.

"The launch of MediNav is the first step in a journey to use indoor navigation and location-based services to benefit all of the stakeholders at RWJUH," said Joanne Arico, RN, BSN and director of patient experience at the hospital. "Our focus for 2015 is to enhance our patient experience, as well as improve staff efficiency and prevent late and missed appointments."

The app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store under RWJUH Find Your Way. It is also deployed at a MediNav iPad kiosk in the hospital lobby. The hospital plans to create a website version of the app later this summer.
