Rice second Seahawks player to become Fresh Healthy Vending franchisee

NFL Super Bowl 2014 Champion Sidney Rice has joined fellow teammate Michael Robinson as a Fresh Healthy Vending franchisee.

Rice, the Seattle Seahawks’ wide receiver, purchased 17 combo machines from the San Diego, California-based healthy vending franchisor, which he plans to place in communities in and around Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

In March 2014, Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson purchased 10 combo Fresh Healthy Vending machinesfor Richmond and Henrico counties, Virginia. Robinson is a Virginia native and recently relocated back to his hometown of Richmond. 

Rice spent the majority of his youth playing sports in South Carolina, where he prepared for his big break during the 2007 NFL draft. Now an NFL veteran, Rice holds the NFL record for the most touchdown receptions in a playoff game.

“I started really focusing on my health about five and a half years ago, realizing what an essential role diet played in the body’s performance and recovery,” Rice said in a statement. “Knowing this, I wanted to get involved in something that would further extend my personal views on health, while also making a great investment decision.”

“After doing immense research, Fresh Healthy Vending kept showing up as one of the best in its category, so I decided to move forward with it,” Rice said. “Healthy living should be an option for everyone, and I want to be a role model for that, giving my hometown the means to make those same, healthy choices.”

Fresh Healthy Vending says it has appointed more than 230 franchisees throughout the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. It has installed over 2,500 machines in schools, universities, hospitals, community centers, military bases, airports, fitness facilities, YMCAs, and libraries.
