The wait is finally over: Redbox Instant by Verizon has ended its beta test and began commercial service yesterday.
With only 4,600 streaming titles to start, Redbox Instant is seeking to differentiate itself from competitors by leveraging its footprint of 35,000 Redbox DVD kiosks, offering customers a combination of physical and digital movie rentals, according to a report on USA Today.
The service offers two price packages to customers. For $8 a month, users have unlimited access to streamed movies plus four credits to rent DVDs at the kiosks, and for $9 customers get streaming and four credits for Blu-ray rentals.
