Last June's launch of video game rentals has made Redbox a destination for entertainment, not just DVDS, said Joel Resnik, vice president of video games at Redbox, in a recent interview with Forbes. The company, which rents the games for $2, believes the rental is actually helping the video game industry sell games to consumers who would never buy them before testing them.
"We've found the consumers who rent video games from Redbox kiosks are more of a casual gamer who want to test out games before they buy and typically only play about seven hours per week per household," Resnick said in the interview.
He also talked about how game rentals will continue to play an important role in what Redbox offers to its consumers.
