Outerwall subsidiary Redbox announced a consumer promotion and charitable movie donation for the holiday season.
The company is donating nearly 3,000 Blu-ray discs and DVDs to the Fisher House Foundation, whose program provides a network of homes for military and veterans' families to stay at no cost while service members receive medical treatment. Redbox is donating to the movie libraries of Fisher housing programs across the country in time for the holidays.
"The holidays are a great time to enjoy movies, and we're thrilled to share the joy with this terrific organization and with our loyal customers," Redbox President Mark Horak said in a statment. "Over the years, we've donated more than 340,000 movie nights and 15,000 DVDs to charities, non-profits and community organizations. We are excited to extend the tradition this year."
"At Fisher House Foundation, our goal is to aid in the recovery of service men and women, both physically and mentally," Fisher House Foundation President Dave Coker said in the announcement. "We know our vets and their families will receive countless hours of enjoyment from these movies, all made possible by Redbox."
Redbox is also issuing a promo code for a free movie night that is available to use on December 17 for everyone in the U.S. The promo code for the company's free movie night is available at the Redbox Instagram page. Recent titles at Redbox kiosks include: "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "Frozen." and holiday classics "It's a Wonderful Life," and "White Christmas."
