Record attendance at NACS show

November 4, 2004

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) reported a strong turnout of fully registered buyers, fueling record attendance at the NACS Show 2004, held last month in Las Vegas, according to a news release.

The total attendance of 24,365 was a 10 percent increase over last year's attendance and was the highest figure ever recorded for a NACS Show, besting by more than 700 the previous record attendance set at the NACS Show 1999 in Chicago.

A record 8,190 buyers attended, with 6,300 registered for the three full days from both NACS and the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI). This represents an 18.2 percent increase over last year's total.

Buyers on the show floor were able to see new products and services from 1,428 exhibitors filling 378,000 net square feet of exhibition space at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Both the total number of exhibitors and total exhibit space were NACS Show records, as was the number of first-time exhibiting companies, 328. A record 170 products were part of the Cool New Products Showcase in front of the exhibition area and dozens of new products were introduced in New Product Introduction workshop sessions and in the printed new product guide sent to retailers prior to the start of the show.

Registration for the NACS Show 2005, to be held in New Orleans October 29 to November 1, will open in early April 2005.
