MAITLAND, Fla. -- Real Digital Media (RDM) has developed a multimedia player for high-quality video material at digital-signage and kiosk installations.
The MPX-1 Multimedia Player connected to a flat-panel monitor enables retailers to place eye-catching promotional displays throughout their retail environment, according to a news release.
The MPX-1 Multimedia Player, a stand-alone unit designed for plug-and-play operation, is one element of a family of products aimed at the emerging digital-signage market.
RDM's MPX-1 Multimedia Board product for integrators can be combined with an LCD or plasma display to form a single custom display that matches a particular retail look and feel. RDM also provides complete solutions by integrating its board with a flat-panel display in a compact enclosure for a turnkey system that might include a bar-code reader, a touchscreen or a printer.
RDM and Try-Foods is marketing an interactive-display system in the wine aisle of supermarkets, the release noted.
Said Kevin Dunleavy, executive vice president of Try-Foods International, "Shoppers who are confused by the wide selection of wines can scan the bar-code at the bottom of the bottle into RDM's interactive kiosk and instantly see a description of that wine, view its rating and get advice on which cheeses, crackers, snacks and other foods go well with that selection."
Dunleavy said he expects that consumers who use the kiosk will be more satisfied with their purchase, have shopping carts that are filled with higher-margin items, and return to that store when more wine is on their shopping list.
