Kiosks at LG Electronics’ service centers were attacked by ransomware this week, with a code possibly identical to the WannaCry ransomware attack that infected 230,000 computers in 150 companies in May, The Korea Herald reported.
The company shut down the service network and reported the incident to the Korea Internet & Security Agency on Monday.
A company spokesperson told the newspaper ransomware caused the problem, but there was no request for a ransom payment.
The company completed security updates for the infected kiosks, all of which are now operating normally.
