Moscow-based payment services provider QIWI plc has partnered with eBay to provide the Visa QIWI Wallet as a payment option on eBay Russia.

Russian eBay customers can pay for their purchases with the Wallet starting November 5, 2014. The Wallet can be topped at any of the 100,000 QIWI kiosks via credit, debit, mobile phone or electronic currency. Customers can choose an interface from mobile and social network apps at a QIWI kiosk or on their website.

"This is a significant strategic milestone for eBay in Russia which demonstrates our commitment to making online shopping safe and convenient for Russian consumers. By adding a locally recognized, immensely popular payment method to eBay in Russia, we are connecting shoppers in more ways than ever before with eBay merchants around the world. Visa QIWI Wallet in Russia is eBay's first alternate payment option," said Vladimir Dolgov, CEO of eBay Russia, in a news release.

QIWI also announced a partnership with Monetka supermarkets to install QIWI kiosks in 623 Monetka locations.

Monetka is part of the LLC Element-Tarid's network of more than 650 stores in 176 cities spanning 15 regions of Russia, with headquarters in Ekaterinburg. Customers using QIWI kiosks can pay for goods and services, including bill pay and banking services such as money transfer.
