LONDON - Pixology plc, specialist in software and networks for digital photography, announced in a news release that it will be providing Lloydspharmacy, the largest community pharmacy chain in the UK, with a fully branded in-store photofinishing service.
Using Pixology's KIOSKPRINT technology, Lloydspharmacy will begin the rollout of digital photo kiosks in 30 of its UK stores in July 2005, in time for the peak photo-printing season. The KIOSKPRINT software will allow Lloydspharmacy to provide its customers with a digital photo service that has been customized to reflect pharmacy branding.
Consumers using the kiosks will be able to choose either to print their photos instantly or pick them up from the store the next day. Prints fulfilled under the next-day option will be transferred to a wholesale lab using Pixology's NetPrints technology.
Instant print fulfillment will be provided by Sony, using its UP-DR150 Digital Photo Printer, the fastest dye sublimation printer on the market at 8 seconds per 4 x 6-inch print. Hardware for the consumer terminals is to be supplied by Red Ten Computers.
