Pixel Magic Imaging Inc. is flying high with its latest promotion of digital camera printing.
During March the deployer of digital imaging solutions and photo kiosks has an arrangement with Sky Radio Network to promote digital printing at retail stores to passengers aboard Northwest and American Airlines flights.
The novel approach is being done in conjunction with Eckerd Express Photo, a J.C. Penney Co. Inc. subsidiary that operates 2,070 one-hour photo labs in 22 states.
"Through our research, we found that communicating about digital printing at retail through the Sky Radio Network was an effective way to reach tens of thousands of people who are a captive audience," said Pixel CEO George Briggs in a release.
"More people would take their digital cameras to retail locations, such as Eckerd Express Photo, if they knew printing services were available," Briggs added. "Many air travelers are toting digital cameras in their carry-on luggage, so we want them to know they can get quality photos quickly from their favorite retail store."
The promotion is timely. Last year, for the first time ever, digital camera sales outpaced film cameras. Experts expect more than 40 percent of all U.S. households to have digital cameras by the end of the year.
