BOSTON - Both digital minilabs and photo kiosks should experience double-digit percentage growth rates through 2007, according to a report by Info Trends Research Group Inc.
Retailers are adapting to a demand for better equipment from a growing number of digital camera users, the report said. Digital minilab sales are expected to grow by 15 percent annually, while photo kiosks will experience a growth rate of 16 percent.
"Kiosk sales have been unexpectedly spurred by the weak economic climates, as some struggling retailers opt for inexpensive kiosks over minilabs in the short term," said senior research analyst Kerry Flatley of the InfoTrends Research Group.
The report cites Kodak as the market leader, but said Fujifilm is gaining market share along with Sony.
