Photo kiosk turns to Kickstarter for funding

Alpha Event Marketing Services has launched a Kickstarter project to fund guppyPOD, its small form factor photo booth kiosk. The company is using the crowdfunding platform to finance manufacturing.

guppyPOD measures 20 inches high, 13 inches wide and 19 inches deep — giving it the ability to fit in the front seat of a car, the company said in the announcement. It serves as a stationary photobooth kiosk but can also receive photos remotely from smartphones through Twitter and Instagram.

"As technology has evolved, we saw an opportunity to build something that was small, portable, and less expensive than traditional enclosed photobooths," said director of technology Rob Bryant. "But we also made sure to incorporate real-time social media capabilities that users are looking for."
