Photo-finishing firm picks CEO

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - A new company with plans to deploy photo-finishing kiosks throughout North America for users of digital cameras has hired a chief executive officer with experience in photography, kiosks and retailing.

DigitalPortal Inc. is a joint venture of SanDisk Corp. (Nasdaq: SNDK) of Sunnyvale, Calif. and Photo-Me International of Bookham, Surrey, United Kingdom. The new CEO is Barry J. Szabo, 47, former chief operating officer of USGift.com who previously spent two decades as an executive with Eastman Kodak.

Szabo will lead DPI's efforts to operate digital film kiosks that provide high-quality silver halide prints of digital images. The company expects to deploy its first kiosks by June 2001. The company was formed last year.

SanDisk is a supplier of flash data storage products and owns a patent on its high-density flash memory and controller technology. Photo-Me International is a provider of photo kiosk vending machines.
