Some Philadelphia Parking Authority parking kiosks recently have been partially disabled by a still-unexplained glitch that resulted in the kiosks rejecting debit and credit cards used for payment, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Parking Authority officials were alerted to the problem by electronic error messages from the kiosks themselves, according to an authority spokeswoman.
Technicians from the kiosks' manufacturer, English firm Metric Parking, are working to figure out the glitch, according to the spokeswoman, but tickets issued to motorists parked at the malfunctioning meters would not be automatically discharged by the city.
