Outerwall CFO makes top '40 Under 40' list in Seattle business journal

Parent company of Redbox, Coinstar and ecoATM kiosks Outerwall Inc. announced the company's chief financial officer, Galen C. Smith, made the "40 Under 40" list of the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The parent company of Redbox, Coinstar and ecoATM kiosks, Outerwall Inc., announced the company's chief financial officer, Galen C. Smith, made the "40 Under 40" list of the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The list honors exceptional business leaders in the community. Smith was recognized for his "results-driven" leadership and for supporting community organizations in the Puget Sound region.

"I'm honored to be included among a group of leaders who are making valuable contributions to the Puget Sound region," Smith said in the release. "Since joining Outerwall five years ago, I've had the privilege of working with a passionate and talented team of people who are committed to driving profitable business growth as well as positive social and environmental change."

Smith previously worked as senior vice president of Redbox, transferring to his role as CFO of Outerwall in 2013.

"Galen has been a key player in driving our company's growth strategy," Outerwall CEO J. Scott Di Valerio said in the announcement. "He's also a leader in fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and supporting our local communities."

Smith also serves on the board of directors of the YMCA and the Seattle Pacific University Foundation, the company said.
