ATLANTA - Radiant Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: RADS) has created a kiosk designed for outdoor use, one that is already helping convenience store customers order sandwiches while pumping gas at a convenience store.
Radiant installed its first outdoor kiosk for Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz, a five-state convenience store chain, in 2002, according to a new release from Radiant. The kiosk, part of Sheetz' "Order at the Pole" initiative, has been operating for six months.
Radiant's outdoor kiosk is housed in an enclosure with heating and cooling mechanics inside, the release said, along with a touchscreen designed to work even when a customer is wearing gloves.
Theaters, quick-service restaurants, stadiums and amusement parks are among the businesses Radiant is targeting for the new device.
