DELRAY BEACH, Fla.--Office Depot Inc. announced a new feature designed to make shopping easier for customers who buy ink, toner and fax supplies. The launch of Ink Depot is the company's latest merchandising strategy.
A Web-enabled reference/finder kiosk is part of the new Ink Depot, a corralled shop at the front of each store. Dedicated staffing, a cartridge-recycling facility and a freestanding register are in the shop.
"Although many retailers sell ink and toner supplies, no one else has dedicated the space, staff and technology to the extent that we have this year," said Dave D'Arezzo, executive vice president of merchandising and replenishment for Office Depot, in a news release.
According to D'Arezzo, the corralled shops will be installed in all 871 North American Office Depot stores by the end of May. To date, Ink Depot merchandising concepts are available in more than 500 Office Depot locations.
