January 11, 2009
NEW YORK — Micro Industries today introduced the Touch&Go Messenger 65P, a high-definition retail touchscreen tall enough to display a life-sized baby giraffe.
According to a news release, the 1080p, ultra-bright LCD screen is 64.6 inches high by 37.6 inches wide and 7.4 inches deep, and has a viewing angle of 176 degrees.
"Retailers will become addicted to this vertical display," said Michael Curran, chief executive of Micro Industries. "A Messenger 65P couples Sharp's largest commercial LCD with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It's outstanding for use in any large, open retail environment — such as a mall, airport concourse, or department store — and is perfect for both display and kiosk applications."
The Messenger 65P also is available as an IR touchscreen and with internal stereo speakers and TV tuner options. A protective glass panel makes the LCD easy to clean.
It is also equipped with Intel vPro technology, which provides remote management capabilities, reduces downtime and lowers the overall total cost of ownership.
Micro Industries' uses mCosm software that lets retailers create, manage, deploy and change their own digital media, on the fly, without third-party intervention. mCosm provides a solution that couples broadcast television, closed-circuit video, digital signage plus interactivity.
"With the Intel Core 2 Duo processor the Messenger 65P can deliver outstanding overall performance per watt while enabling an enhanced customer retail experience," said Joe Jensen, general manager of the Intel Embedded Computing Division. "This processor offers lower energy consumption thus lowering the total cost of ownership of leading edge retail technology."
