Newspaper kiosk debuts in Delhi

May 19, 2003

THE HAGUE, Netherlands -- Guests at the InterContinental Parkroyal Nehru Place in Delhi, India, will be able to read same-day editions of 119 newspapers from 48 countries, representing 28 languages, thanks to a kiosk provided by Netherlands-based Publishers Electronic Printing Concept (PEPC).

It is the first placement in India, according to PEPC.

PEPC, which began operations four years ago, now has installed its International Newspaper Kiosks in 107 locations throughout the world. The Americas have 45 kiosks, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia) has 34 and there are 28 in Australasia. The kiosks print 40-page black-and-white versions of daily papers ranging from USA Today to the Times of India. The cost ranges from $3 to $5.

Customers can select and pay for their favorite newspapers following four easy steps listed on the kiosk touchscreen. Within two minutes, the latest edition of the newspaper of choice, printed in tabloid format and fastened with three staples, rolls off the press.
