New York City officials: We’re shocked people watched porn on Wi-Fi kiosks

November 16, 2016

New York City officials admitted during a Tuesday council hearing that they were surprised that free web browsing kiosks would cause so many people to browse pornographyin public, according to The New York Daily News.

The city in September disabled the web browsers on tablets secured to hundreds of kiosks.

The tablets only provide access to city services at the present time.

The city may eventually hook up the web browsers again — but only with an improved porn filter and possible time limits, said a rep for the private firm that oversees the project for the city.

Jen Hensley, general manager of the company, LinkNYC, said the company is working on a way to prevent porn from being available.
