New kiosks in Salt Lake City could curb DUIs

Starting in November, patrons of Utah bars will have a little help deciding if they are sober enough to drive home after a night of drinking, according to an article on cityweekly.net.

With the Breath Advisor kiosks, individuals pay $2 to test their blood alcohol level through a built-in Lifeloc breathalyzer. If they are over the legal limit, calling a cab is just a few taps away on the kiosk's touchscreen interface.

"When you start drinking you may be at .04, and when you've been drinking for several hours you may hit .2 or.15. But then you drop down to .1 and you feel pretty sober," said Jason Knott, owner of Breath Advisor LLC. "That's where a lot of people get caught up in thinking they can drive."
