Albertsons Cos. has has partnered with Hearing Wellness Network to provide free hearing tests using kiosks at 24 pharmacy locations. The kiosks, called Hearing Touch Machines, are designed to test user hearing and provide information to the user if there are signs of hearing loss, according to a press release.
In order to use the kiosk, users put on headphones and follow the instructions on the touchscreen. Users listen to a variety of tones in each ear. After the process is complete, the Hearing Touch Machine reports whether it has detected signs of hearing loss. The kiosk also will give users the option to schedule a free appointment with a hearing health professional, or to get a copy of their hearing report, according to the release.
"Hearing health is a very important factor for overall physical health," said Mark Panzer, senior vice president of pharmacy, health and wellness for Albertsons. "Hearing Wellness Network has developed a simple, convenient and effective way to help people learn about their hearing health status and when it's time to take action. We're excited to bring this service to our customers."
"Our goal has always been to bring hearing health awareness to the forefront," said Ted Nenov, managing partner of Hearing Wellness Network. "Knowing the average person takes over seven years to seek help with hearing loss, we created this program to tangibly improve hearing wellness and reduce this timeframe. By partnering with a major player in the pharmacy and wellness arena like Albertsons Cos., we can significantly impact hearing health and wellness."
