The Trenton (New Jersey) Free Public Library is taking some of its books to the people, and one of the ways it is dispensing them is via vending machine.

According to an editorial at NJ.com, the library debuted its first "book kiosk" at the YMCA of Trenton on Pennington Avenue. It will install another one at a health and wellness complex.

From the editorial:

Trenton's library system is among the oldest in the state, if not the country. It dates from 1750, and Benjamin Franklin himself is said to have purchased its first 50 books.

Now, with their feet firmly planted in the 21st Century, library officials are finding innovative new ways to serve a book-hungry public.
