New England hospitals dispensing medication via kiosks

August 3, 2012

WellSpan Health, which serves more than 650,000 patients in south central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, is now selling over-the-counter medications and prescriptions at ScriptCenter kiosks developed by Asteres Inc.

"The introduction of over-the-counter items is a tremendous asset for ScriptCenter," Clint Roderick, RPh, senior pharmacy manager at WellSpan Pharmacy, said in a company press release. "Employees can pick up ibuprofen and other items quickly and easily without having to make another stop on the way home from the hospital."

Anyone can walk up and purchase OTCs, which include popular items such as allergy and cough and cold medications, antacids, hydrocortisone creams, children's acetaminophen, pain/headache products and more. Customers enrolled in ScriptCenter may also pick up prescriptions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
